Why Choose Kiddlywinks?
Our dedication to delivering the very best care and education for children is as strong today as it was when our story began. Through the support of a dedicated, long serving and passionate team, our Curiosity Approach and learning environments continue to evolve. Our ethos is to gently nurture children by learning through play, encouraging natural curiosity and promoting high levels of self-esteem.
Outdoor learning
We have a real enthusiasm for outdoor learning, and the role it can play in children’s development. We have fantastic outdoor facilities at both nurseries with our three-quarter acre learning meadow at The Meadows’ and rural location offering opportunities for river walks and exploring the countryside safely. Our Penrith nursery boasts strong links to the community, where children are able to visit castle park, the library, the nature reserve and local shops.
Child-centred learning encouraging curiosity
Learning through play is a vital part of development and our nursery environments, both inside and outdoors, provide children with opportunities to safely explore and investigate. Our “real” resources using authentic materials stimulate children’s curiosity and innate desire to learn. In current fast-changing technological times we are on a mission to ensure imagination, awe, curiosity and wonder are not lost and we provide children with the opportunity to become the empowered “thinkers and doers” of the future. When the children leave us, our aim is that they will be fully ready for school - confident, independent and good communicators.
Health
We place great importance on helping the children develop a healthy relationship with food. Our nutritious food, much of it local, prepared in diverse menus allows the children to enjoy familiar foods and to develop new favourites by experiencing new tastes.
Our nursery chef Sammy develops seasonal menus which are accessible for all children and adapted to meet individual dietary requirements. All of our freshly cooked meals are prepared and cooked fresh, with no salt and reduced sugar to create a healthy balanced diet.
Mealtimes are relaxed occasions where children can develop social skills and independence. More generally, our nurturing staff, stimulating environments and facilities for outside play, exercise and fresh air all work together to promote general well-being.
Family nursery
Kiddlywinks is very much a family business and a family approach is the foundation for everything we do. It has helped us build an excellent team through our commitment to ongoing training. It also underpins our desire to have strong links to local community – the team and the children benefit greatly from interacting with local organisations and businesses ranging from, police, fire, dentists, Ice cream van visits to story time sessions from Grandparents and parents popping in for a baking session with our little ones.

Kiddlywinks Family
Many of our families refer to Kiddlywinks as an extended family. We are dedicated to supporting our families wherever and whenever we can, whether this be with emergency sessions, support with worries or concerns, referrals to outside agencies or just a coffee and a chat.
We organise regular events to bring our nurseries together, as an opportunity for families to meet other parents and families, for children to socialise with friends and to bring our Kiddlywinks community together as one, such as our popular annual Kiddlyfest summer event, with live music, food stalls, crafts, outside suppliers, games and charity fundraising.
